Training and Teaching
The Practice has been approved for the training of GP registrars and Foundation doctors.
GP Registrars/specialty trainees are qualified doctors who wish to become GPs. They have completed their training in hospitals and spend between six and eighteen months in the practice.
Foundation doctors are doctors who have qualified in the last two years and have not yet entered training for a particular specialty. They spend four months training in the practice.
To assist in their training you may be asked to see a student or be asked to take part in a video. Consent forms (for video invitations) are available, but if you wish to decline this will not affect your consultation with your doctor in any way.
Our GPs occasionally attend mandatory training and update events – on these occasions, the surgery is closed for the afternoon for everything except prescription collection. If you call the surgery number, you will be passed to the out-of-hours GP service who can give you help and advice. The dates of these training and update sessions will be published in advance.
